SALKANTAY TO MACHUPICCHU  5DAYS / 4 NIGHTS

Day 01 : CUSCO - MOLLEPATA - SAYAPATA – HUMANTAY LAKE - SORAYPAMPA (L)(D)
We will leave Cusco approximately at 5:00a.m. A bus will take us to the town of Mollepata (2900 meters above sea level) where we will arrive approximately at 7:30 in the morning, we will stop for last minute supplies, leg-stretching or to use the restrooms at a local restaurant. We will continue our journey to Sayapata, our trek starting point. We will meet with our support staff, who will load the equipment on horses and mules. Around 9:00 a.m., we will begin our hike toward Soraypampa (3850 meters above sea level). During the hike we will have panoramic views of the majestic Salkantay, other mountains covered with snow, and the Valley of Apurimac River. Around 1:00p.m., we will have a Peruvian lunch. After lunch, we will visit Humantay Lake, a marvelous lake in the mountains, (3 hours hike) and we will come back to our campsite where the tents will be ready for you as well as your dinner.

Day 02 : SORAYPAMPA - CHALLWAY (B)(L)(D) 
Today, nature will change drastically from dry sceneries to snowy peaks and tropical areas. After a nutritious breakfast, we will start the most difficult part of the trek. We will start the hike around 7:00 in the morning. We will hike to a place called Pampas Salkantay, then go toward the left side of the snowy peaks of Umantay located next to the Apu Salkantay. At midday, we will be on the highest point (4600 meters above sea level).We will appreciate spectacular views of the mountains and the imposing snowy peaks of the Salkantay (6264 meters above sea level) which is known as the second highest point of the Cusco region. Around 1:00 p.m., we will have our lunch, in the area called Huayracmachay. After a trek of approximately 3 hours, we will arrive to our camp in Challway (2920 meters above sea level). Around 7:00p.m., we will recuperate from the trek and eat dinner.
Walking distance aproximately 18 Km. 

Day 03 : CHALLWAY – PLAYA  SAHUAYACO – SANTA TERESA HOT SPRINGS (B)(L)(D)
Around 7:00a.m., we will start our trek. We will walk for about 6 hours toward Playa Sahuayaco and during this period; we will observe a town called Collpabamba, also called the “Forest Cloudy Brow” where waterfalls, fruit-bearing trees, varied flora, and birds can be observed. If we are lucky, we will be able to observe the famous bird called the “Cock of the Rocks”. Here we will have lunch. At 2:00 p.m. a local bus will take us to Santa Teresa Hot Springs, where you will enjoy and relax at the hot pools. You will have dinner and camping there.
Walking distance aproximately 14 Km. 

Day 04 : SANTA TERESA-  HYDROELECTRIC - AGUAS CALIENTES (B)(L)(D)

After of our delicious breakfast we are going to walk for approximately around 8:30 a.m we begin our trek, we follow this rising trail, from which we will see plantations of coffee, banana, passion fruit and a lovely view of the Santa Teresa Valley. We follow along the riverside of Vilcanota River until arrive to the Oroya (canopy bridge) From here we have an option to hike to hidroelectrica or to catch a small car where will take us until Hidroelectrica (25 minutes), from this place we can observe the back of Machupicchu Santuary, where we have the last lunch with all staff. from here we will continuo walking until arrive to Aguas Calientes around 4:30 p.m then we will stay in a hostal the last night
Walking distance aproximately 10Km. 
If  you like  the  adrenaline we  have  the  optional free  zip line + rappel  after  breakfast

Day 05: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO (B) 
Today, you will start early at around 4:30a.m. and walk up to Machu Picchu and to the Sun Gate. Or   optional you  can take  take bus  up  from  aguas  calientes ($ 9 usd  dolars ) to machupicchu In Machu Picchu, you will have a guided tour for about two hours and after that you will be free to explore the Citadel and take pictures, or if you desire, ascent toward the Huaynapicchu Mountain. At 6:45p.m. (depending on availability), you will be taking a train to Ollantaytambo and from there; a bus will drive you to Cusco.

machupicchu by train luxury tour one day

 Day 1: Machupicchu Tour with a Vistadome De-luxe train with reserved seats.
Transfer from your hotels at 5.00 am to ollantaytambo Train Station. (Train leave at 07:40 am)
The train ride consists of spectacular views in this wonderful land of the Incas, (this train has big panoramic windows) amazing landscapes of mountains and valleys, Inca farming terraces on both sides of the valley, snow capped mountains and sub-tropical jungle near the Ceja de Selva. From Pachar the sacred Vilcanota river will be our companion until arrival at Aguas Calientes (2040m) well known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. Your guide will meet you at the train station and transfer you to the bus for 25 minutes to Machu Picchu. A guided tour of Machupicchu “The Old Sacred Mountain” takes approx 2 hrs and then you have some free time for photos. Machupicchu, the lost city of the Incas, where the last emperors, priests and priestesses took refuge and where the empire survived for 40 years after the arrival of the Spaniards. Secret and mysterious citadel from the time of Pachacutec Inca Yupanqui (IX-Inca`s Dinasty) emperor, his presumed constructor. Then apparently its existence was even well-known only by the authorities and the priests of the Tawantinsuyo “The four lands of the empire”. Machupicchu prodigy of architecture of aesthetic recklessness and by the magestic and harmony of its forms, by the impeccable organization of its terraces, stairs, buildings, patios, passages that are set up in this nest of condors, surrounded by mountains, between the mountain range and the forest like but the extraordinary constructive feat of the pre-Hispanic man. 
The bus ticket down to Aguas Calientes town.  Return by Vistadome Train to Poroy Cusco or train to Ollantaytambo then Private Bus to Cusco.  Arriving to Plaza Recocijo near Cusco`s main Plaza de Armas approximately 8.15 pm

DIA 01: CUSCO – BOSQUE NUBLADO – PILCOPATA. -  Partimos de Cusco en la mañana en nuestro cómodo bus. Ascendemos a la zona alta  de Paucartambo.. En el trayecto visitaremos las torres funerarias ó  Chullpas de Ninamarca. Luego descendemos por el misterioso bosque de nubes, lleno de hermosas orquídeas, heliconias y helechos primitivos. Nos detenemos para brindarle la oportunidad de presenciar al gallito de las rocas (Rupícola peruviana) en el ritual de apareamiento. También hay posibilidades de observar  trogones (Trogon sp.) y muchas especies de aves más. Si tenemos suerte encontraremos al único oso de Sudamérica, el oso de anteojos (Tremarctos ornatus). En la tarde llegamos a nuestro Albergue típico con baños y duchas donde pasaremos la noche.  

DIA 02: PILCOPATA – ATALAYA - PAITITI.-  Después de nuestro desayuno, continuamos en nuestro bus y haremos una caminata donde podemos observar muchas aves. En el trayecto tambien visitaremos plantaciones de hojas de coca. Para luego llegar al puerto de Atalaya , donde nos embarcaremos en nuestro bote aprox. 30 minutos hasta nuestro albergue donde pernoctaremos. y por la  tarde iremos a explorar la selva Hasta Llegar a una  montaña de donde tendremos una hermosa Vista. Por la noche tendremos caminatas nocturnas..  Noche en Albergue   con  baños y duchas  disponibles.


DIA 03: ALBERGUE PAITITI – COLLPA DE LOROS - COCHA MACHUHUASI – Muy temprano salimos en bote hasta  la collpa de loros. donde se observa 3 a 4 especies de loros y pequeños huacamayos ,luego retornamos en bote hasta Machuhuasi donde tendremos una caminata. Llegando asi a la laguna donde Usamos balsas  para navegar aproximadamente 1 hora   observando  una gran variedad de aves, monos, Ronsocos, reptiles pequeños, caimanes enanos e  insectos. En la Tarde retornamos a nuestro albergue para el almuerzo. En la noche tendremos caminatas nocturnas (opcional).Noche en Albergue   con  baños y duchas  disponibles.

DIA 04: ALBERGUE - ATALAYA – CUSCO.- Después de nuestro delicioso desayuno desafortunadamente  retornamos en bote del albergue Paititi hasta el puerto de  Atalaya .donde nos espera el bus para retornar a Cusco , nuevamente pasando por el misterioso bosque de nubes con destino a la ciudad Imperial de Cusco.  Llegada aproximada a las 6:00 a 7 pm.
